(The Sun) – Temperatures are set to drop by another -6C before another weekend of rain hits the country after weeks of heavy rainfall.

Flooding alerts are still in place, and this weekend could bring more wet weather with heavy wind also expected.

This will be the fifth weekend in a row of horrific weather, following three named storms last month giving 2020 the wettest February on record.

The South and the capital will be hardest hit with the bulk of flood warnings looming over the home counties and eastern Wales.

According to Alex Deakin, heavy rainfall could “cause some extra problems” after weeks of flooding.

He said: “Any extra rain falling after such a wet February could cause some extra problems.

“There will be more rain this weekend particularly in the west on Saturday.
