CALGARY – Though haze that settled over Calgary and much of Alberta last week due to wafting smoke from B.C. forest fires dissolved somewhat on the weekend, there’s more where that came from, according to Alberta Environment. Bob Myrick, manager for air policy, said though the air quality improved from very poor in Calgary on Friday to fair on Sunday, it was mostly due to the lack of winds that blew through, meaning the smoke had no means of travelling out of B.C. However, with winds expected to pick up this week, Myrick said he wouldn’t be surprised if the air quality dropped from fair to poor in the coming days. “Unless they get a really good handle on the fires, it looks like we’ll continue to have less than ideal air quality this week,” he said. “It does look like we’ll be getting more winds, which may result in it going back to poor air quality. “We expect more smoke to be coming in from B.C.” …
