August 3 (BBC) – Holidaymakers have been warned to avoid contact with the blue-green algae which is turning some Norfolk Broads green. Aerial photographer Mike Page took pictures of the potentially hazardous bloom during a flight of the broads. Swimmers and dog owners have been warned to avoid contact with the affected water.
“We get blue-green algae appearing at different times of year on the broads. Normally it’s in small amounts, just round the edges of the broads, a green tinge around the edge of the broad. I flew over Ranworth Broad on Sunday and the whole broad was completely green, it really surprised me,” said Mr Page.
