Oct 20, 2010 Three months after severe floods hit Pakistan, millions of displaced people have yet to find a home. “At least 7 million people are currently without shelter in the flood-affected areas,” U.N. spokeswoman Stacey Winston told a news conference in Islamabad, according to AFP. According to the U.N., almost 2 million houses have been damaged or destroyed. The U.N. has issued a $2 billion appeal, and so far, 35 percent has been funded, according to AFP. The floods covered around one-fifth of the country, killing around 2,000 people and forcing over 21 million people to flee. There has been criticism on Pakistan’s handling of aid money. Last week U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized wealthy Pakistanis for not doing more to help their fellow citizens.
