Video: Colbert catalogues bizarre oil spill remedies, adds his own

By Jake Simpson on May 11, 2010 11:29am As the oil spill continues to devastate the Gulf of Mexico, efforts to plug the subsurface leak have grown increasingly creative as conventional solutions have failed. As Comedy Central satirist Stephen Colbert dryly explained: “No one knows what the f— they’re doing. It’s playtime in the world of imagination!” Moved by such inspired ideas as shooting pantyhose stuffed with human and dog hair at the leak, Colbert declared “I want in,” unveiling a Wheel-of-Fortune style “Oil Containment Solution Randomizer.” To the delight of his audience, Colbert gave the wheel a few spins to devise  his own containment scenarios. So if BP executives run out of ideas, there’s always “ultra-concentrated packing peanuts delivered by monkey submarine.”
