Extinction predicted for South African vultures
Karen Allen reports
Sunday, 18 April 2010 10:55 UK Conservationists in South Africa are warning that vultures could soon become extinct because they are being hunted down for use by traditional healers. There is a belief that the scavengers have the power to predict everything from winning lottery numbers to football scores. With the football World Cup due to be hosted in South Africa in June demand for the birds is likely to soar.
