Interested in seeing some visual evidence of the global financial meltdown? We’ve found some fascinating links to images that demonstrate clearly the crash in demand for consumer goods. For example, how many people aren’t buying cars these days? Check out The Truth About Cars’ “Worldwide Auto Inventory Glut in Pictures.” It’s pretty incredible.

The New York Times also recently published a photo feature titled, “Pileup at the Port.” Then there’s Reuters photographer Bobby Yip’s picture of towering stacks of unused shipping containers — they loom over the area’s buildings — in Hong Kong. And as prices for recyclable materials have crashed, so too has the profitability of China’s recycling mills, as evidenced by photo number four at the BBC’s “Day in Pictures” feature.
